WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Southerland today announced his appointment to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, which includes seats on two key subcommittees that shape economic growth, job creation, infrastructure development and tourism across North Florida.
“My role on the House Transportation Committee affords me the critical opportunity to fight for new North Florida jobs and make necessary infrastructure improvements while keeping wasteful spending in check,” said Southerland. “As American families struggle to do more with less, I am committed to modernizing our nation’s infrastructure and boosting travel and tourism without breaking the bank.”
Southerland will serve on the Aviation Subcommittee, which oversees air traffic modernization, travel and safety measures, and the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, which monitors road, bridge and transit construction, as well as highway safety.
Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica said, “Congressman Southerland’s experience as a small business owner makes him a valuable addition to these subcommittees, and will allow him to immediately contribute to the work of producing fiscally responsible legislation to improve our infrastructure and create jobs.”
Southerland also serves on the House Committees on Agriculture and Natural Resources.
