Frederick Douglass (1817-1895)
Abolitionist
Douglass was born a slave named Frederick Bailey. He
escaped from his owner in 1838 and changed his name
to Douglass. He fought for the abolishment of slavery
in the United States before the Civil War. He urged
President Lincoln to free and arm the slaves during the
Civil War.
District Girls Basketball Tournament
This week the Girls District 3 Class 2A Basketball Tournament will be held at Franklin County School.
The schedule is as follows:
Fri, Feb. 4: 6:00pm- Wewahitchka vs West Gadsden
7:30pm- Liberty County vs Port St. Joe
Sat, Feb. 5: 7:00pm- Winner of Friday’s 6:00 & 7:30pm games

if you are teaching intensive reading to H/S, M/S, or ESE students, you are required to have Reading Endorsement.

Miscellaneous
**Project Graduation Meeting: Mon, Feb. 7, FCS senior parents will be meeting at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Brownsville Rd, Apalachicola at 6:00pm. If anyone needs directions call 653-5308.
**Voluntary Pre-K: Children must be 4 years old on or before September 1st. Call the Early Learning Coalition at 850/747-5400 for more information or to apply for a VPK certificate. No “Child Find Screening” is required for voluntary Pre-K.
**GED CLASSES on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays (except holidays) from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the
Franklin County Learning Center (the old Brown Elementary).
The next GED Test will be given March 7 & 8 at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm.
