Call the media- Floridians don't like telemarketers
Telemarketers topped the list of Florida consumer complaints over the past 12 months. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said there were nearly 23,000 general complaints about telemarketers over the past year. Over 12 thousand of those were about telemarketers violating Florida’s do not call list making it number one on the complaint list. The rest were just about telemarketers in general. Third on the list was complaints about credit and banking followed by communications and rounding out the top five was motor and vehicle repair. Travel and vacation plans made the list at number six followed by real estate brokers, landlord/tenant issues and motor vehicle sales and medical complaints. There were over 45 thousand complaints filed with the Department of Consumer Services in 2011 – about half of those complaints were successfully closed or resolved. And by the way, if you would like to make it illegal for telemarketers to call you, you can register online at www.800helpfla.com. It only costs $10 to register and then a $5 annual renewal fee. If you would like to lodge a complaint against Florida company, you can do that by calling 1-800-HELP FLA.
