This year’s Water Street Festival of Ice will continue Saturday with ice carving and ice cream at Gorrie Square.
The festival celebrates John Gorrie’s invention of the ice making machine which led to creation of air conditioning.
The festival celebrates in a different way every Saturday in August – this is the final event with Ice carving demonstrations, snow cones and ice cream on Saturday from 12-4pm at Gorrie Square in Apalachicola.
There will also be free tours of the John Gorrie Museum and an open house at the Apalachicola Municiple Library.
You can see a full list of events on-line at waterstreetfestivalofice.com.
And make sure to stop by the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art on Water Street from noon till 5 today or Saturday for the “Big Chill” exhibit showing how John Gorrie’s invention changed the world.
