Precautionary Temporary Closures
Area 1642 – Apalachicola Bay
Beginning February 13, 2012, the Florida Department
of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Aquaculture will implement
small, temporary zonal closures of shellfish harvesting area #1642.
This is being done to minimize impacts to
shellfish harvesting areas during the course of two projects in Apalachicola Bay. The temporary closure zones will move as work
is completed in each area. Each closure
zone will be reopened for harvesters as work is completed in that area. Updated maps will be posted on the Division
of Aquaculture’s web site at: http://www.floridaaquaculture.com/pdfmaps/1642.pdf
Weekly map updates will be distributed to
certified shellfish processors in the area and will also be available at the
Division of Aquaculture’s Apalachicola Shellfish Center located at 260 Dr. Frederick S. Humphries Street.
