Three arrested after traffic stop


A traffic stop on Monday just east of Apalachicola led to three drug-related arrests.

The Franklin County sheriff’s department said that when deputies conducted the traffic stop on highway 98, Jessica Wallace who was driving the vehicle, consented to the search.

As the driver and two passengers were getting out of the car, officers saw one of them throw an object to the edge of the woods on the roadway. 

That object turned out to be a plastic bag filled with $2300.00 in cash and another clear plastic bag containing a white substance which field tested positive for cocaine. 

The man who threw the bag, Omarsharek Antoni Harris, of Destin, ran when deputies tried to arrest him and he took the officers on a lengthy foot pursuit before they were able to arrest him.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two clear plastic bags of suspected cocaine for a total of 87 grams.

Deputies also seized the money and the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe the three were driving.

Mister Harris was charged with 1 count Resisting an Officer without Violence; 1 count Possession of a Controlled Substance and 1 count Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.

22 year old Jessica M. Wallace of Eastpoint, Florida, was charged with 1 count Possession of a Controlled Substance; 1 count Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and 1 count Fleeing or Eluding a Law Enforcement Officer with Lights and Siren Active.

The second passenger, 21 year old Rashon A. Bahammou of Apalachicola, was charged with 1 count Possession of a Controlled Substance and 1 count Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.
