Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department wins SGI Chili Cook-off

In another sign that God loves the chili cook-off, there were blues skies over SGI while the rest of the country suffered through heavy rains and tornadoes. And while the crowds were smaller this year because of poor weather reports - the energy was high. I think most people were expecting a downpour and when it didn't happen they partied!

This was the 30th year of the cook-off and the 1st time that a local group won the contest. The AVFD will be heading to Las Vegas later this year to compete for 100K in the international chili cookoff. There were 43 contestants in the cook-off this year. We should have an earnings report soon.
