FWC considering permanently extending bay scallop season

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is considering permanently adding two weeks to the end of the recreational season for bay scallops and it is asking the public to take a short survey to determine interest in the potential change.
Bay scallop season begins on July the 1st, it’s a very popular recreational harvesting activity in the St. Joe bay in Gulf county as well as in some waters in Wakulla County.
If you have a stake in the bay scallop fishery then you might want to take the survey and let the state know whether you support expanding the season.
The survey is available on-line at MyFWC.com/Fishing by clicking on “Saltwater.”
