STATUS OF MANDATORY EVACUATIONS OF THE CARRABELLE, CROOKED, AND NEW RIVERS




THE MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER FOR THE CARRABELLE AND CROOKED RIVERS HAS BEEN RESCINDED BY THE FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMISIONERS, WEDNESDAY JUNE 27, 2012.

THE EVACUATION ORDER FOR THE NEW RIVER BASIN REMAINS IN PLACE.

THESE AREAS ARE STILL IN A NOAA DESIGINATED FLOOD WARNING AREA. THEREFORE, IF YOU DO DECIDE TO RETURN TO THESE AREAS, BE AWARE THAT YOU MAY ENCOUNTER HAZARDS THAT WOULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH FLOODING. THESE WOULD INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, SNAKES,INSECTS, SWAMPY AREAS, CONTAMINATED WATERS,AND DOWN OR DAMAGED TREES AND BRUSH.IF POSSIBLE,
DO NOT DRIVE VEHICLES THRU FLOODED AREAS.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE WATER LEVELS IN THE AREA YOU ARE IN, AND EVACUATE IF THIS CONDITION CHANGES DUE TO RISING WATER LEVELS.KNOW THE AREAS YOU ARE ENTERING, AND BE ALERT AND CAREFUL. LET SOMEONE KNOW THAT YOU HAVE RETURNED, IN CASE YOU HAVE DIFFICULTIES.
