2012 Tourism looking strong

Tourist numbers in Florida are looking pretty good so far this year.

VISIT FLORIDA - the state’s official tourism marketing corporation says that over 22 million visitors came to Florida between April and June, an increase of 1.3 percent over the same period in 2011.

Visit Florida estimates that nearly 19 million US visitors came to Florida during the second quarter of 2012, a slight increase from last year.

There was a nearly 10 percent increase in overseas visitors with 2.4 million in the second quarter. 

The increase in tourism was also a boon for employment with over 11 thousand more tourist related jobs in the state this year than last.
