In August The Water Street Festival of Ice salutes Dr. John Gorrie; the man who brought the ice to ice cream, the snow to snow cones, and the cool to our hot, hot summers. "The Big Chill" Ice Era Exhibit runs through August 25. The Center for History, Culture and Art is located at 86 Water Street and is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12-5 pm.
To end the month honoring Dr. Gorrie, this Saturday, August 25, visit Gorrie Square on 6th Street, Apalachicola for our celebration from 12-5 pm, featuring guest speaker Ellie Morris at the Gorrie Museum, with Music and an ICE CARVING EVENT on the museum grounds. The Apalachicola City Library is having an Open House with guest speaker Robin Ingram at 3:30 pm. She will speak about the Apalachicola Ice Company.
