Nature Conservancy Seeks Exempted Fishing Permit to Research Atlantic Halibut - The permit would exempt four federally permitted commercial fishing vessels from halibut minimum size and possession limits for a tag and release project co-managed with the Cape Cod Commercial Hook Fishermen's Association. Collected data would help reduce uncertainties in halibut stock assessments.Comment on the proposed permit through October 3, 2012.

Reward Offered for Information on Dolphin Killed on Elmer's Island, Louisiana - Necropsy results revealed the dolphin died from a bullet lodged in its lung. Call the NOAA Enforcement Hotline (1-800-853-1964) with any information about this incident. Tips may be left anonymously. The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the responsible person(s). |
