Veterans Day Weekend Film at Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum On Saturday, November 10th Beginning at 10 A.M.
“In times of war” are stories of what happens to individual people during WWII. As
yet undistributed, this series was produced by Christine and Mark Bonn.
In 2010, Vi Cowden was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal- the highest award
a civilian can receive from Congress- to nearly 300 women, all over the age of 86.
The story of the WASP (Women Air Force Service Pilots) is revealed in interviews
and film in “Wings of Silver”.
Ray Parker Joined the Air Force at age 18 and became a navigator. His first mission
was led by the movie star Major Jimmy Stewart. Shot down and captured by the
Germans he recounts his tales of battle and imprisonment.
Over 16 million Americans fought and sacrificed for our liberty during WWII.
We are losing them at over 2,000 a day. Our mission is to capture their personal
histories and share them with the country they so fiercely battled for.
