Blue Cross Blue Shiled foundation provides 100K for Franklin county dental program

The Franklin County Health Department has received a 100 thousand dollar grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield foundation of Florida to help fund dental services in Franklin County.
The Blue IMPACT grant will provide $100,000 over three years to help cover a variety of dental services in the health department’s newly equipped two chair dental clinic in Carrabelle and their two chair clinic at the Franklin county school.
The purpose of the Blue Foundation’s Grant Program is to increase access to quality, health-related services for Floridians, especially those who are uninsured and/or underserved.
The health department will be the only Medicaid provider of dental services in Franklin county.
The Dental office in Carrabelle will include a team of dental providers consisting of a full time dentist, a dental hygienist, two dental assistants, and a financial eligibility specialist.
The office will offer examinations, prophylaxis, topical fluoride treatments, dental sealants, oral hygiene instruction, restorative care, limited surgical care, emergency care and referrals.
The School Based Dental Sealant Program will provide many of the same services to 100 percent of children enrolled in first through third grade.
The work will be provided by a part-time dentist and a dental hygienist and is expected to provide dental services to 250 students every year.
The School based program services will be offered daily.
The dental offices will begin providing service in early December.
The Franklin county health department will hold a grand opening for its new Carrabelle dental Clinic on December the 5th at the Carrabelle health Department building.
