  DCF and Partner Agencies Hold Free Resource Fair and Distribute Food to
                              Area Residents
  Partnership aims to promote well-being, good health and provide fresh,
            nutritious food to families and individuals in need

WHAT: The Florida Department of Children and Families, Gadsden County
Health Department and Farm Share will host a free resource fair and food
distribution for residents of Gadsden, Franklin, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty
and Wakulla counties on Wednesday, November 7 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Farm
Share in Quincy.

The “one-stop shop” event, which coincides with Diabetes Awareness Month,
will bring together organizations serving Big Bend rural and urban areas to
help residents learn more about health, family support and veteran’s
services available throughout the community.

Assisted by numerous volunteer organizations, Farm Share will distribute
fresh and nutritious food to those in need.

The resource fair and food distribution event will feature educational
information on diabetes detection and prevention, dental screenings, health
and nutrition information, fun exercise demonstrations, services for local
veterans, low-cost health insurance options for Florida children ages 0-18,
and short-term benefits programs like food stamps and Medicaid.

Held just before the holiday giving season kicks into high gear, the event
underscores the year-round need for charitable giving. It highlights the
volunteers and businesses that donate their time, talent and resources to
help families in need and strengthen their communities.

WHO: Numerous organizations serving residents of the Big Bend Region,
including Farm Share, Gadsden County Health Department, Florida Department
of Children and Families, Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Tobacco
Free Florida, Gentiva Health Services, Apalachee Center, Sickle Cell
Foundation and more.

WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 7, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Media are invited to attend.
