Franklin county to purchase vacuum truck for Apalachicola airport

The Franklin County commission has entered into an agreement with the Department of Transportation to purchase a vacuum truck for the airport in Apalachicola.

The truck would be used to clean the runways of any debris so that trash doesn’t get sucked up in jet engines or blown around by prop planes.

DOT has provided nearly 200 thousand dollars in grant money for the purchase which should cover all of the costs.

The county is now going out for bids for the vacuum truck.
