FWC to hold public hearings on land management plan for Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will hold public hearings in Gulf and Franklin counties this month on the 10-year draft land-management plan for FWC-managed portions of the Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area.

These hearings are to dicuss conservation objectives for the property to ensure the conservation of fish, wildlife and other natural and cultural resources as well as how the property is managed for outdoor recreation, including fishing and wildlife viewing.

Hunting and fishing regulations are not included in this plan, because they are addressed through a separate public process.

At each meeting, there will be a staff presentation followed by comments and questions about the draft plan from the public.

The first public hearing is on Wednesday, February the 27th at 7 PM at the St. Joseph Bay State Buffer Preserve Center.

The second hearing is on February the 28th at 7 p.m. at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve Environmental Education and Training Center on Island Drive in Eastpoint.
