The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will hold public hearings in
Gulf and Franklin counties this month on the 10-year draft land-management plan for FWC -managed portions
of the Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area.
These hearings
are to dicuss conservation objectives for the property to ensure the conservation
of fish, wildlife and other natural and cultural resources as well as how the
property is managed for outdoor recreation, including fishing and wildlife
viewing.
Hunting
and fishing regulations are not included in this plan, because they are
addressed through a separate public process.
At each
meeting, there will be a staff presentation followed by comments and questions
about the draft plan from the public.
The first
public hearing is on Wednesday, February the 27th at 7 PM at the St.
Joseph Bay State Buffer Preserve Center .
The
second hearing is on February the 28th at 7 p.m. at the Apalachicola
National Estuarine Research Reserve Environmental Education and Training Center
on Island Drive in Eastpoint.
