St. George Island Charity Chili Cookoff March 2
Considered one of the area's largest annual events, St. George Island will host its annual Charity Chili Cookoff and Auction on March 2. The winner of the competition advances to the world championship and all proceeds benefit the Island Volunteer Fire Department and First Responder Unit. Activities include a golf tournament, 5K Red Pepper Run, Chili Cook-off, Auction and the naming of Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce. Click here to learn more.
 
Eastpoint VFD Hosts Rib Cook-off March 16
Come eat some of the area’s best BBQ ribs and chicken and support the Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department during the Eastpoint Fire Department's Annual Charity Rib Cook-off March 16. Live music, car show, activities for the kids. Click here for details.

 Apalachicola ArtWalk & Wine Fest March 23
Art in all forms will be woven in and around picturesque downtown Apalachicola where artists will be showing, selling and demonstrating their talents from 11am-6pm. Festivities continue into the afternoon with a progressive wine tasting and hor douvres from 3-5pm.  Later in the evening local chefs will prepare special dishes at their restaurants highlighting our fresh local ingredients.  At 8pm the Dixie Theatre presents The Dixie Does Nashville Apalachicola annual singer songwriter festival. Click here for more information.

Spring Art Workshops 
The Apalachicola School of Art continues a series of art workshops this month.
March 4-7 - Katie Dobson Cundiff - Workshop - Learn to take your ideas and turn them into Plein Air Paintings through this five-step workshop.
 
March 8-10 - Hodges Soileau Oil Painting Workshop - Hodges will impart some of the principals that he uses and considers most important - shape, value, edges & color temperature - whether one is working in oils, or any medium that uses color.

March 21-24 - Ken Dewaard Oil Painting Workshop - During this Four Day Plein Air Workshop, students will inevitably be chasing the light and seeing beyond what is there, pushing to simplify the overall scene and see the beauty before us.
 
April 26-28 - Lori Putnam Oil Painting Workshop - Workshop includes lectures and demonstrations, individual painting time, lots of one-one-one instruction, and personal and group critiques to promote your progress. 
  
Beth Appleton Exhibit Through March 15
The Apalachicola Museum of Art (AMA) continues the Beth Appleton Exhibit through March 15. A nationally-recognized talent, Appleton's newest work "Aquatica 4x" will be on display. Appleton's new children's book "Gently Down the Stream" will also be featured at the exhibit as well as a short film the artist created. Click here for details.

 St. Vincent Island Hosts Open House March 22The St. Vincent Island National Wildlife Refuge will host its Annual Open House on Friday, March 22 with wildlife exhibits, nature walks, presentations and tours. Come and spend the day on beautiful St Vincent Island and enjoy the tours and program offered at the Open House.  The event is sponsored by the Supporters of St. Vincent NWR, Inc.
