It was a beautiful day for a Rib Cook-off...

Vrooman Park in Eastpoint was filled with rib lovers on Saturday as people came out to enjoy the most beautiful weather of the year so far and help raise money for the Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department.

The annual event helps fund the fire department’s budget – the exact amount raised through the event should be released in the next few weeks.

The 2K Webgroup’s Kicking Ash team was the big winner of the day.

The team took top honors in the cooking contest.

Team Retsyo took second place as well as the award for  display and Loco Catering came in third.

Honorable mention went to the Big Top Supermarket cooking team, and that group also won the People’s choice award for raising the most money at their booth.

Besides all of the food which also included apple dumplings and ice cream, there was also a classic car show, a silent auction, a liars contest and live music.
