Local unemployment rises in June

Franklin County saw its unemployment rate increase again in June.
Local unemployment rose from 5.3 percent to 5.5 percent; even with the increase Franklin county had the 4th lowest unemployment rate in the state.
302 people were looking for work in Franklin County in June, up from 286 in May.
Gulf County also saw its unemployment rise from 6.6 to 6.9 percent.
420 people were looking for work in Gulf County last month, up from 395 the month before.
In Wakulla County the unemployment rate rose slightly to 5.7 percent.
In Liberty County there was a jump in unemployment from 6.2 to 6.5 percent.
Overall, the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 7.1 percent between May and June.
