Alle Cat Charters
John Solomon joined the chamber with his business Alle Cat Charters, a charter fishing and eco-tour business.  Alle Cat offers full and half day charters on the Gulf, Bay or River.  They also offer sightseeing tours of the barrier islands and river, shark fishing, seashell excursions, cast net lessons, tarpon fishing, flats fishing, and flounder fishing at night and can customize tours too. Jamie Myers Edward Jones
Welcome Jamie Myers, a full service investment broker and financial advisor with Edward Jones.  Jamie is a retired Lt. Colonel with the US Air Force.  He lived in this area for many years while he was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base.  He was a Senior Air Defense Officer and was in charge of the air defense of the entire US.  He also has an MBA and worked for many years as a banker and mortgage broker.  Jamie raised four children in the area and has twin boys who are on active duty with the Air Force currently. Gibby Conrad Apalach Tours
Welcome Gibby Conrad with Apalach Tours, an eco tour business offering four unique exploration tours of the Apalachicola River delta.  Gibby offers a birding tour, a tour explaining the importance of the estuary, Estuary 101; a maritime history tour  about the evolution of watercraft and its usage in the industries that drove Apalachicola’s economy which includes a tour of wreck sites; and a relaxing sunset tour.  He will also do customized charters to suit. His boat is a 23 foot Beachcat named the Swamp Owl, which is designed for comfort with a sunshade and a head. Gibby is a lifelong student of Gulf Coast maritime history.  He was born and raised on the Mississippi River and in the maritime industry. Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation
Welcome Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation, the fundraising arm for the Weems Memorial Hospital.  The Foundation's goal is to develop philanthropic support for Weems and to actively support the hospital’s desire to serve our community and its visitors with the most up-to-the-minute medical technology and knowledge. The Foundation also seeks to improve the community’s quantity of life with preventative teaching and resources for medical information.  The Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation is a 501 (c) (3), tax-exempt, non-profit foundation. All contributions are 100% tax-deductible.  Current board members are John Solomon, president, Jody Fortunas-Wilson, Vice-President, Cliff Butler, Treasurer, Heather Guidry, Secretary. Coastal Angler Magazine
Bill & Diane Peevy joined the chamber with Coastal Angler magazine.  They purchased the magazine in June, and August will be their inaugural edition.   Coastal Angler has been around for seventeen years.  It is now the largest outdoor magazine in Florida.  It went from a circulation of 50,000 per month to national publication with a circulation of 560,000 per month.  The Peevy’s area of coverage is from Panama City Beach to Alligator Point, north to the Georgia Alabama lines. Diane and Bill have worked in real estate in the area for fifteen years.  They started in 1998, on St George Island.  The Peevys are avid outdoor enthusiast.  They dive, boat, fish and know well what the area has to offer.  The magazine, which focuses on boating, fishing, conservation, hunting, kayaking and tourism, gives them a way to use their avocation and talents to showcase what the area has to offer.  They can be reached at (850) 229-4500(850) 527-2579 cell or office in 427 Plantation Drive in Port St Joe.  Their website ishttp://coastalanglermag.com/panamacity  

Frank Venable Distributors
Welcome Frank Venable to the chamber.  He is a distributor and wholesale dealer of tupelo honey, crystallized honey, and Mayhaw jelly.  Frank moved here from Columbus, Georgia, twenty years ago and has been fishing here for forty years.  He remembers duck hunting with his dad when he was little.  He can be reached by calling (850) 670-4489.

The Cut Salon
Welcome Connie Dehner, Patti Reynolds, Kelley Carrell, Nancy Riley and Martha Wynot with The Cut Salon on St George Island.  The Cut has been in business since 1995, providing precision haircuts, custom color, foil, up dos, and waxing. They also offer manicures, pedicures and gel nails.  Paula is the massage therapist. She offers relaxation and deep tissue massage. The Cut is located at 140 West First Street, next to BJ Pizza. On August 13th we will have an unprecedented opportunity to be a part of a federal hearing on the flows of the Apalachicola River.  The US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will hold a full committee field hearing here in Apalachicola onTuesday, August 13, at 11:00 a.m., “Effects of Water Flows on Apalachicola Bay: Short and Long Term Perspectives” at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex Building. Be sure to attend this important meeting.  This is a very rare opportunity to show our federal legislators how important the Apalachicola River and Bay are to all of our livelihoods.

Mark your calendar for the Small Business Week in Franklin CountySeptember 16-20th, 2013, which will recognize and highlight the impact small businesses bring to Franklin County.Monday-Tuesday , September 16-17ththe Small Busines Development will have one-to-one business consuling sessions and discussions on a variety of subjects that will help small business owners discover resources to expand or refocus their business.  The USDA, OpportyintyFlorida, Gulf Coast Stae College SBDC Veteran's services will also be on hand.

-Visit Florida was given detailed information on our area beaches and info on transport for the Google mapping project the state is working on.

-Darienne Mobley was sent a lot of information on our area and events for the new National Geographic Geotourism Guide.  The guide lists natural attractions, distinctive wildlife habitats, historic locations and other authentic Florida destinations. There will be a printed guide, an interactive website and a digital app developed and promoted with National Geographic. The four U.S. Gulf States most affected by the 2010 DeepWater Horizon disaster are joining with National Geographic Maps to highlight the region’s world-class natural and cultural attractions. The project seeks to contribute to the economic health of these communities by promoting Geotourism: tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place – its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage and the well-being of its residents.  If you have a nomination, go to the website: www.usgulfcoaststatesgeotourism.com and click on START NOMINATING HERE.
