Conditionally approved areas of the Apalachicola Bay reopen at sunrise on Friday

The Department of Agriculture will reopen the conditionally approved summer areas of the Apalachicola Bay on Friday.

Areas 1652 and 1662 will reopen to Oyster harvesting at sunrise.

Those areas are north and south of the Apalachicola Bridge.

Those areas have been closed for nearly 3 weeks because of heavy rains and high river levels.

Oystermen are not allowed to commercially harvest oysters on Friday or Saturday during the summer season, but will be able to work in 1652 when they return to the waters on Sunday.
