County accepts flag to fly over Armory

County Commissioners accepted a flag on Tuesday that will now fly over the Armory.

The flag was given to the county by Ms. Margie Solomon.

The flag was placed on the casket of her brother, Mr. Rocco Donato.

Mr. Donato was in the National Guard unit stationed in the Armory in Apalachicola and his unit was one of the first called up when the US entered WW II.

Ms. Solomon has kept the flag for several years but believes her brother would want it to fly over the Armory.

Ms. Solomon said her brother was in the first troop to be called up and they all volunteered to go.
