Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council seeks public input on red snapper management rules

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council will hold a public hearing in Panama City Wednesday to get public comment on proposed changes to red snapper management rules.

The proposal is to divide the federal recreational red snapper quota among states or regions which would potentially give states more flexibility in choosing seasons and bag limits, but would not necessarily result in more fishing days.

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is expected to take final action on the proposal this month.

The closest public hearing to our area will be held Wednesday evening at 7PM Eastern Time at the Holiday Inn Select on North cove Boulevard in Panama City.
