Flood warning in effect along Apalachicola River

A flood warning is in effect for areas along the Apalachicola River including Franklin, Gulf, Calhoun and Liberty Counties.

River levels at Blountstown were at 16.6 feet on Thursday which is about two feet above flood stage for the Apalachicola River.

River levels are expected to rise to about 17.2 feet by Tuesday and then begin to recede.

There could be some minor flooding along portions of the Apalachicola river and residents along the river should monitor water levels through the week.

It does take a few days for the waters at Blountstown to make it to the Apalachicola Bay.
