Governor Rick Scott
recognized 14 counties including Franklin County for approving
teacher raises.
The governor has been asking counties to
approve teacher raises; the state earmarked $480 million dollars during the
2013 legislative session to reward teachers and thank them for their
nationally-recognized efforts to raise student achievement.
Last week the Franklin County School board
voted 4 to 1 to increase local teacher pay by about 1800 dollars a year for
teachers at both the Franklin county school and
the Apalachicola Bay charter School.
To date 52 of Florida ’s 67 school
districts have approved raises for teachers.
