Governor Rick Scott recognizes Franklin county for providing teachers raises

Governor Rick Scott recognized 14 counties including Franklin County for approving teacher raises.

The governor has been asking counties to approve teacher raises; the state earmarked $480 million dollars during the 2013 legislative session to reward teachers and thank them for their nationally-recognized efforts to raise student achievement.

Last week the Franklin County School board voted 4 to 1 to increase local teacher pay by about 1800 dollars a year for teachers at both the Franklin county school and the Apalachicola Bay charter School.

To date 52 of Florida’s 67 school districts have approved raises for teachers.
