Pinki Jackel named to Continuum of Care Facilitating Group to help the homeless

County commissioner Pinki Jackel has been named to represent Franklin County on homeless issues.

Commissioner Jackel was named to the Continuum of Care Facilitating Group, which will work through the Big bend Homeless Coalition, was federally mandated for continued federal HUD funding exceeding 1 million dollars that helps address homelessness in the Big Bend.

Under the group’s charter, each of the 8 county commissions in the Big Bend is required to name a member to the Board.

The member did not have to be a commissioner, but commissioner Jackel said she would like to be involved because she feels that a lot of people in Franklin County could benefit from the funding and she would like to be in a position to make sure that needed funding makes it here.

Commissioners also agreed to name Sandi Hengel as an alternate or citizens advocate on the board.

Miss Hengel currently serves on the Big Bend Homeless Coalition.
