The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
has released the top ten list of consumer complaints for 2013, and it should
come as no surprise that telemarketers topped the list.
Consumers
filed over 47 thousand complaints with the state’s consumer assistance center
in 2013.
The
most common complaint by far was telemarketers violating Florida ’s Do Not Call List which is supposed to protect people
from sales calls.
There
were nearly 19 thousand complaints about violations of the Do Not Call list -
Complaints about violators of Do Not Call has topped the list for four
consecutive years.
Telemarketing
in general came in second on the list with over 3600 complaints.
Fuel
issues, communications problems, and landlord/tenant issues rounded out the top
5.
They
were followed by complaints about real estate brokers, cable TV, credit cards
and banking, Motor vehicle sales and travel/ vacation plans.
