Local unemployment fell slightly in December

Franklin County’s unemployment fell slightly in December.
Local unemployment fell from 5.4 percent in November to 5.3 percent last month.
Sixteen counties had lower unemployment rates than ours.
269 people were looking for work in Franklin County in December, down from 279 the month before.
Unemployment in Gulf County also fell from 6.7 percent to 6.4 percent.
364 people were looking for work in Gulf County last month, down from 386 the month before.
In Wakulla County the unemployment rate fell from 5.5 to 5.2 percent.
In Liberty County unemployment fell from 5.7 percent to 5.4 percent.
Overall, the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 6.2 percent in December, the lowest it’s been since June 2008.
