Public hearings scheduled for Gulf Coast restoration projects

Two public hearings will be held in Florida this month to get public comment early restoration projects being proposed by the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment Trustees.  
There are about 627 million dollars in projects proposed for the entire Gulf Coast including a number in Franklin, Gulf and Wakulla Counties.

Local projects include constructing additional docks at the Abercrombie boat ramp and enhancing parking at Waterfront Park in Apalachicola.

Money has also been proposed to fund building restroom facilities at Indian Creek Park in Eastpoint adding restrooms to the Eastpoint and St. George Island Fishing Piers and adding amenities at Bald Point State Park and Cash Bayou.

Nearly 3 million dollars has been proposed for 5 boat ramp and park improvement projects in Gulf County, and a little over 2 million dollars is proposed for three projects in Wakulla County.

The public has until February 19th to comment on the projects,

You can get an electronic copy of the entire plan and submit comments on-line at gulfspillrestoration.noaa.gov.

You can also comment in person at two public meetings in Florida, the first will take place Tuesday, January 28th, in Pensacola, and the second meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 29th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Panama City
