Sandra Anne Loudermilk Conkel was sentenced to 40
years in prison this month for the 2012 killing of her mother, Cynthia Greene.
Conkel
was convicted of second degree murder – she was originally facing a first
degree murder charge which could have carried the death penalty.
She
was sentenced on January the 14th.
The
charges stem from the shooting and stabbing death of 68 year old Cynthia
Greene, whose body was found on December 12th, 2012 about 10 miles
west of Apalachicola just off State Road 30-A.
Mrs.
Greene’s daughter, 46 year old Sandra Anne Loudermilk-Conkel, was arrested on
December 15th in the case.
According
to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department incident report, Mrs. Greene was
shot once in the back of the head and then stabbed over 60 times.
The
Sheriff’s Department said that Sandra admitted during a video interview that
she and her mother had gone to 10 mile road where they got into a heated
argument.
During
the argument, Sandra took Mrs. Greene’s 25 caliber pistol and shot her once and
then began to stab her mother with a folded lock blade knife.
She
said she blacked out and did not know how many times she stabbed her mother.
Afterward
she dragged her mother’s body over a ledge at the end of 10 mile road and
covered it with debris.
