Touring Apalachicola's waterfront is now more informative than ever

If you want to learn more about the city of Apalachicola then take a walk along the city’s waterfront.

Over the last several weeks the city has installed 9 interpretive signs along city-owned waterfront property.

The  displays are located recount different historical, economic and cultural influences that helped shape Apalachicola; topics include early steamship traffic, the timber industry, seafood, the Civil War, and general history.

Each of the displays also features historic images of the town and an QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone to link back to the City of Apalachicola website where additional information about each interpretative display topic is available.

The project was funded through a grant from Visit Florida and money from the Franklin County Tourist Development Council.

You can learn more about the signs and the various groups and people who helped design and create them by visiting Apalachicola May Van Johnson’s blog at http://mayorvanjohnson.blogspot.com/.
