FDOT host Public Meetings for Proposed Area Projects

Chipley–  The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has scheduled four public meetings on three proposed improvement projects in Bay and Gulf counties.  Meetings are being held for State Road (S.R.) 22 (Wewa Highway), the S.R. 30 (U.S. 98) Tyndall Parkway Flyover at Tyndall AFB and the Gulf Coast Parkway which will link Bay and Gulf counties.  Project information, meeting time and locations are as follows:

  • S.R. 22 (Wewa Highway)
  • Tuesday, April 29, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. CDT
  • Springfield Community Center, 3728 East 3rd Street, Springfield
    FDOT’s Project Development and Engineering (PD&E) Alternatives public information meeting is being held to receive public comment on proposed improvements to S.R. 22 (Wewa Highway).  The department plans to increase lane capacity on S.R. 22 from S.R. 30/U.S. 98B to County Road (C.R.) 2315 (Star Avenue). A brief presentation will take place at 5:15 p.m. and the meeting will conclude at 6 p.m.

  • S.R. 30 (U.S.98/Tyndall Parkway) Tyndall Air Force Base Flyover
  • Thursday, May 1, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. CDT
  • Springfield Community Center, 3728 East 3rd Street, Springfield
    FDOT will present a PD&E study of proposed improvements to U.S. 98/Tyndall Parkway at Tyndall AFB.  The PD&E study will evaluate alternatives that reduce travel delays on S.R. 30 (U.S. 98/Tyndall Parkway) resulting from gate operations on Tyndall AFB and queuing on S.R. 30 (U.S. 98/Tyndall Parkway) and provide a route for Tyndall AFB vehicles to travel between the support side and the flight line side of the base without the need to exit and re-enter security. 

  • Gulf Coast Parkway, from U.S. 98 in Gulf County to U.S. 231 and U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) Project Development and Engineering
  • Tuesday, May 6, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. EDT
  • Centennial Building, 2201 Centennial Drive, Port St. Joe
  • Thursday, May 8, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. CDT
  • Springfield Community Center, 3728 East 3rd Street, Springfield
    FDOT will host two public hearings on the proposed Gulf Coast Parkway, a proposed new link in the transportation connecting U.S. 98 in Gulf County with U.S. 231 north of Panama City and U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) in Bay County.  Identical information will be presented at the Bay County and Gulf County meetings.  A formal presentation will be given at 5:45 p.m. in their respective locations.

Maps, drawings, and other information will be displayed, meeting participants will have an opportunity to preview proposed improvements and provide comments.  Representatives from FDOT will be available to answer questions and explain proposed improvements.
