Gulf County Emergency Management warns of flood conditions

The Gulf County Emergency Management Office is asking residents and property owners in the river basin areas of Gulf County, that they should closely monitor the river readings for potential flooding this week.

A Flood Warning has been issued for the Apalachicola River at Blountstown affecting Calhoun County, Liberty County, Gulf County and Franklin County.

The Apalachicola is forecasted to continue rising rapidly through Friday and crest at near 21.9 feet by Friday afternoon.

Additional rises may be possible.

The Chipola River at Altha is also forecast to rise rapidly and crest near 21 feet by Wednesday.


Based upon current conditions the potential exists to begin flooding homes in the Apalachicola and Chipola River basin areas of Gulf County and residents should be prepared to take any precautions and protective actions in the event that their area is impacted by flooding conditions.
