Old Carrabelle Hotel recognized for by TripAdvisor for environmentally-friendly practices

THE OLD CARRABELLE HOTEL has been accepted as a Gold level GreenLeader in the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders program.

The program helps travelers plan greener trips by identifying environmentally-friendly accommodations across the U.S.

The program recognizes hotels that have met the environmental standards developed for TripAdvisor  - The more green practices a hotel has in place, the higher its GreenLeader level, which is shown on the property’s listing on the TripAdvisor site.

Innkeeper Skip Frink said the Hotel’s new on-demand water heating moved them from Silver to Gold.

The Old Carrabelle Hotel also has a recycling program, and composts all non-meat food scraps which then goes on to the hotel’s garden where plants grow that conserve moisture to shade and cool the building.

The TripAdvisor GreenLeaders program was developed in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® program, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the United Nations Environment Programme.
