59 year old dead after being hit with an axe-handle

A registered sexual predator died Saturday in Eastpoint after he was hit with an axe-handle.

59 year old Norman Bill Williams died after he was hit during an argument at 23 Washington Street.

46 year old Bobby Bullock has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing great bodily harm in the case.

Sheriff’s officials say the charge could be increased to second degree murder depending on the results of an autopsy.

Sheriff’s officials were called to the scene at about 8:30 Saturday night – emergency Medical personnel were already on scene performing CPR but pronounced Mister Williams deceased a short time later.

The investigation found that Williams had been in an argument with another man over allegations that Mister Williams had inappropriately touched a woman in the home.

During the argument Mister Bullock hit Mister Williams from behind with an axe handle just below his left ear, knocking Mister Williams unconscious.

Mister Williams was left untreated for nearly half an hour before residents called 911.

Mister Williams had registered as a sexual predator in Franklin County earlier in the day.

He made the news back in 2011 after police released him in the woods near Eastpoint with an ankle bracelet to monitor his location because he had no home.

He escaped to Louisiana and was later re-arrested for failure to Register as a Sexual Predator.
