Apalachicola teen re-arrested after escape

A 15-year-old Apalachicola boy who escaped from sheriff’s department custody on Monday was recaptured in Apalachicola the next day.

The juvenile is facing charges of burglary, dealing in stolen property and grand theft in Franklin County.

The boy was being transported to the juvenile detention center in Tallahassee late Monday afternoon when he asked to use the restroom at Hudson Park in Crawfordville.

That’s when he ran away from the deputy.

The search for the young man included deputies and the K-9 units from Franklin and Wakulla counties, the Florida Highway Patrol, and officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The searched until after 11 pm with no luck.

On Monday the boy was found at his home in Apalachicola and re-arrested

He can now add an escape charge in Wakulla County to his list of charges.
