Butts and Clucks raises thousands for new sonogram

The community turned out Saturday for the Weems Memorial Foundation and its annual Butts and Clucks Cook-off by the Bay.

Total earnings won’t be known until later this week, but foundation president John Solomon said the revenues should be enough to allow the foundation to purchase a sonogram for the local hospital.

The foundation sold over 130 pork dinners plus 18 whole pork butts.

All of the items at the auction also sold.

The Winners in the cook-off were the Big Top Team in the chicken division and Burt Hicks and Ty in the pork division.

The most popular booth was The Big Top, which raised nearly 1000 dollars from selling meals.

The Best rig display went to Joel Norred and the Pogy Road Porkers.

Foundation president John Solomon wants to thank all of the teams and community members who attended the event or volunteered their time because every dollar matters.
