Florida approves 9 day sales tax holiday for hurricane supplies

Florida’s nine-day sales tax holiday for hurricane supplies will begin on May the 31st.

Governor Rick Scott signed the legislation Monday at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

Starting May 31, Floridians can purchase hurricane necessities including batteries, flashlights,  weather radios, tarps, and even generators worth $750 or less without having to pay the state's 6 percent sales tax.

The sales tax holiday is expected to save Floridians about 121 million dollars.

The tax holiday will run from May 31st to June the 8th.
