Lovestrand selected as new county extension director

Franklin County will soon have a new Extension director.

Eric Lovestrand will be taking over the position beginning on May the 23^rd.

Lovestrand knows the area well; he’s been the education coordinator at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve since 1991.

He will fill the spot left vacant when long-time Extension director Bill Mahan was moved to a position in Bay county last November.

Mister Lovestrand said he plans to increase the number of educational programs his office provides in the county and will continue working with neighboring extension offices to provide a wider range of programs

He will also continue to serve as the county’s point man on a number of marine issues, most importantly oysters.

The county extension office is currently located at the Armory in Apalachicola.
