The Florida Bar
Association is asking all Floridians to show some civility during the month of
May.
In honor of that
sentiment, the Carrabelle City Commission approved a proclamation last week announcing
May as Civility Month asking residents to be polite even when they disagree
with one another.
The proclamation
says in part that displays of anger, rudeness and personal attacks detract from
the open exchange of ideas and can discourage individuals from participation in
government while civility can assist in reaching consensus on diverse issues
and allow for mutually respectful ongoing relationships.
Civility can
uplift our daily life and make it more pleasant to live in an organized
society.
