Apalachicola juvenile arrested following Crawfordville burglary

On June 17, a 15-year-old Apalachicola juvenile was arrested for burglary of a dwelling, grand theft and resisting an officer without violence in connection with a Crawfordville burglary. A concerned citizen contacted the sheriff’s office about a male juvenile who asked to use his telephone and admitted that he was riding a stolen bicycle. In addition, the juvenile admitted to stealing two hunting bows from a victim on Duncan Drive.

Deputy Gibby Gibson made contact with the juvenile on Arran Road and Tolken Road but he ran from the deputy as he was being questioned. Lt. Mike Kemp and Deputy Stephen Simmons set up a perimeter on Lost Creek Trail and Tall Timbers Drive and the suspect was spotted.

The juvenile failed to stop when approached by deputies and he was subdued with a Taser probe. The suspect admitted taking two hunting bows and the bicycle from an open garage on Duncan Drive. The stolen property, which was valued at $2,400, was returned to the property owner. The property was stolen from the victim’s garage while he was at home. The suspect was booked in the Wakulla County Jail and transported to juvenile detention in Tallahassee. The juvenile was in Crawfordville with his parents when he walked away from their location and committed the crime. Deputy Ross Hasty, Captain Chris Savary, Detective Clint Beam, Sgt. Ryan Muse and Deputy David Pienta also investigated.
