Children as old as five will now
have to use a car seat when in a vehicle in the state of Florida .
Governor Rick Scott this week
signed HB 225 which requires that children up to 5 years old be in a
crash-tested, federally approved child restraint device when in a moving
vehicle.
That can include a booster seat.
Previous rules only required a
safety seat till age three and then the child could use the vehicle’s safety
belt.
The
new rule will take effect in January.
