Local projects left mostly untouched in Florida's 77 billion dollar budget

Florida Governor Rick Scott signed Florida’s 77 billion dollar budget on Monday but not before vetoing about 69 million dollars in spending.
Even with the vetoes, the 2014-2015 budget is still the largest on record.
Projects in Franklin and Gulf counties remained untouched – the governor did veto one project in Wakulla County.
That was a one and a half million dollar dredging project for Shell Point, Spring Creek, and Mash’s sands.
Over 5 and half million dollars for projects in Franklin County are in this year’s state budget.

That includes over three quarters of a million dollars for facility upgrades for local oyster processors and over a half million dollars for work on the historic Chapman Auditorium in Apalachicola.

The state budget also includes 350 thousand dollars for work on the Fort Coombs armory in Apalachicola, and 50 thousand dollars each for work on the old carrabelle City hall and at Vrooman Park in Eastpoint.

There are also a number of road projects in the budget including a 2.4 million dollar stormwater and drainage project for the Apalachicola regional Airport and over 830 thousand for work on Highway 98 in Apalachicola.

Gulf County has nearly 30 million dollars in projects in the budget, 20 million of that is for dredging the Port St. Joe channel.

There is also 200 thousand for moving the Cape San Blas Lighthouse into Port St. Joe.

There are also a number of Gulf county road projects in the budget including 2.3 million dollars for work on County Road 30 A from the Franklin county line to East of Money Bayou, and 1.5 million for work on County Road 30 b leading to the Indian Pass Boat ramp.
