Patronis named to Florida Public Service Commission

Many local people will be on a first name basis with the newest member of the Florida Public Service Commission.
Governor Rick Scott appointed Representative Jimmy Patronis to the commission that oversees Florida’s public utilities last week.
The 42 year old Patronis represented the western end of Franklin County for a few years before the districts were redrawn and we fell fully into District 7.
Patronis is leaving the House in November because of term limits.

He is also the vice president of Captain Anderson’s Restaurant in Panama City.
The governor also reappointed attorney Julie Brown of Tampa to the Commission – she has been on the board since 2011.
If approved by the senate, their terms will begin in January and end in 2019.
Public Service Commission members are paid over 130 thousand dollars a year – it oversees many of Florida’s utilities  including electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater.
