The Wakulla County Health
Department has lifted the Swim Advisory for Shell Point Beach.
The advisory was issued in September after moderate
concentrations of the enterococcus bacteria were found in the water there which
could pose a health risk to swimmers.
Health officials take water samples from beaches around
Florida on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule to insure that the water is safe for
swimming.
They generally stop the sampling in our area during the
winter months when fewer people are using the beaches.
You can see the sample results for beaches around the state
at the Department of Health Beach Water Quality website.
