Franklin County election results for the November 4th election

Local voters decided Tuesday to keep the status quo on a number of issues.
District 2 voters decided to keep Cheryl Sanders on the county commission for another 4 years – she has been on the commission since 1998.
It was a very close race.
Cheryl got 525 votes, just over 52 percent of the total.
Her opponent, republican Mark Nobles, received 478 votes.
Local voters also decided not to increase the local bed tax from 2 percent to 4 percent – though that was also a close call.
51 percent of the voters voted against the increase.
And Franklin County decided that it would prefer to continue electing its school superintendent instead of hiring him or her.
Over 55 percent of the voters said they did not want to change the way the superintendent is selected.
On the district and statewide races, Franklin county voters chose Steve Southerland over Gwen Graham for congress 58 percent to 41 percent and 58 percent also chose to return Governor Rick Scot to office over Charlie Crist who received about 38 percent of the local vote.
Nearly 68 percent of local voters did support Constitutional Amendment 1 which provides money for conservation land purchases and nearly 64 percent voted in favor of amendment 2 which would allow medical marijuana in Florida.
55 percent of voters voted against amendment 3 which would have given the governor more power to fill judicial vacancies.
In other statewide races, 63 percent of Franklin County voters chose to keep Pam Bondi as Attorney General, 65 percent voted to keep Jeff Atwater as Florida’s chief financial officer and nearly 64 percent voted to keep Adam Putnam as Commissioner of Agriculture.
Voter turnout was relatively high on Tuesday.

60.4 percent of registered voters voted in this election.
