Today is election day - make sure to get out and vote

Today is Election Day so make sure to get out and vote.

There are a number of important issues on the November 4th ballot.

Local voters will decide whether to change the Superintendent of Schools from an elected position to a hired position.

We will also decide whether to double the local tourist development tax.

District 2 voters will select a county commissioner – that race is between incumbent Cheryl Sanders and Mark Nobles.

There are also two highly contested races for Governor and for our representative in congress as well races for Florida’s attorney general, commissioner of agriculture and chief financial officer.

Plus there are a number of constitutional amendments on the ballot, including one to allow medicinal marijuana in Florida, and one that would set aside money to purchase environmentally sensitive property.

Polling stations are open till 7 PM; Oyster Radio will bring you local election results after the polls close.
