5th Annual Oyster Cookoff
The Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce was happy to participate in the 5th annual Oyster Cookoff this past weekend. The cookoff is held annually to support the Apalachicola Fire Department.
The Chamber of Commerce team of President Donna Duncan & Executive Director John Solomon finished in 3rd place with bacon, spinach, Jalapeno wrapped grilled oyster with spicy sauce. The real winner of this event was the Apalachicola Fire Department which the event raised over 45,000 for. Congratulations to all involved.

Death by Design

Death by Design ~ Set during a weekend in an English country manor in 1932, Death by Design is a delightful comedy with murder. Edward Bennett, a playwright, and his wife Sorel Bennett, an actress, flee London and head to Cookham after a disastrous opening night. But various guests arrive unexpectedly - a conservative politician, a fiery socialist, a nearsighted ingénue, a zany modern dancer - each with a long-held secret. When one of the guests is murdered, it's left to Bridgit, the feisty Irish maid with a macabre interest in homicide, to solve the crime.
The Panhandle Players will present Death by Design over two weekends in Franklin and Gulf Counties. See the show at the Windmark Beach Town Hall in Port St. Joe Beach February 6th - 8th and again February 13th - 15th at the Eastpoint Firehouse. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and matinee performances begin at 3 p.m. ET. Doors open 30-minutes prior to show time. Tickets are $15 each and are being sold at Downtown Books in Apalachicola, The Butler Agency in Eastpoint, Sometimes It's Hotter on St. George Island, Carrabelle Junction, No Name Cafe in Port St. Joe, and Caribbean Coffee in Mexico Beach.

Mardi Gras Parade, Barkaritaville

Dress yourself and your dog in tropical parrothead costumes and celebrate Mardi Gras Apalach style! You may walk, ride in golf carts, pull wagons, push strollers, or come up with any other unique form of transportation. Floats are allowed and this may be the only place you'll see oyster boats in a parade. The day's events, for the benefit of our local animal shelter and for the Apalachicola Dog Park, begin at 1:00 pm at the Bowery and winds through town, ending at the dog-friendly where the party will continue with live music, dancing, Cajun food, games, And contests. Parade registration is $5.00 per person. Dogs, of course, are free. Golf carts, floats, and boats are $20. Dogs are still free.
Admission to the fais do-do at Bowery Station is free for everyone. All donations are tax-deductible and are for the benefit of the shelter and dog park.

Snowbird Appreciation Day
February 10, 2015 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (ET) Snowbird Appreciation Day, 2015, will be held on Tuesday, February 10th. The event is sponsored by the St. George Island Business Association, who invites all winter visitors in the area to enjoy an evening out on St. George Island. The home tour will be held on Saturday, February 14, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. "We have a great selection of homes from the Plantation to the East End and from the beachfront to the bay," said Dany Ray, who is chairing the event with her husband Marty Ray. "We have modern and traditional beach-front homes, bay-front homes, and historic homes. This is the first and best chance for people to get a total view of the island lifestyle from inside some our out best and most interesting homes.
