Franklin county agrees to maintain intersection improvements

The County road department will maintain new intersection safety improvements at two intersections in county.

County Commissioners agreed Tuesday to sign a maintenance agreement with the state as soon as the county attorney has had a chance to look over the document.

The intersections are at Jackie Whitehurst St and Highway 98 in Apalachicola, and Norvell Street and Highway 98 in Eastpoint.

He Department of Transportation plans to refurbish the STOP bars at the intersections and place new STOP signs.

Since the improvements will be on county owned side streets the county has to agree to maintain the work.

Another part of the project is the remarking of Island Drive and Highway 98 in Eastpoint but that is on the state road so the state will do the maintenance.
